Used RVs Artesia NM: 400+ Affordable RVs and Trailers

Welcome to RV Depot, the dealership families around Artesia, New Mexico come to when they want real options instead of a runaround. We keep more than 400 used RVs and travel trailers on 20 acres in Cleburne, Texas, and we have been doing this since 1990.

If you are searching for used RVs Artesia NM, travel trailers for sale near Artesia, fifth wheels, bunkhouse floorplans or a toy hauler you can actually live in, you can walk the whole lot in one afternoon and compare them side by side. Everything is in one place, the prices are on the units, and our in house financing means your credit history is the start of the conversation instead of the end of it.

Why Artesia Residents Choose RV Depot

Artesia sits about 450 miles from our Cleburne lot, right at seven hours by way of Interstate 20 and US 180. That is a planned trip rather than an errand, so most people coming over from Artesia call ahead, tell us what they are after, and have their list ready before they get here.

Artesia runs on refining, oil and gas, potash and irrigated farming, and a good share of the people doing that work rotated in from somewhere else. Housing has never been the part this country solved well.

Here is the math nobody runs out loud. A motel room or a rented bunk in Artesia is money you hand over and never see again, and when a turnaround lands at the refinery that nightly rate does not go down.

Buying is not what is expensive here. The typical home runs about $229,400 against a median household income near $74,915, right at three years of pay, which is one of the healthier ratios anywhere in this state. The pressure falls on the people who came in for the work.

Eddy County is not an expensive place to buy a house. It is an expensive place to be temporary. Put the money you are already handing over for a room against an RV you own and two things change. The payment goes toward something with your name on it, and the housing follows you to the next job instead of ending when the project does.

We finance in house, which matters when your income moves with the rig count and the turnaround calendar. We make the call ourselves instead of mailing your file to a bank that only reads a score.

Living in Artesia, New Mexico: A Refinery Town Named for Its Water

Artesia sits in Eddy County in southeastern New Mexico, between Roswell and Carlsbad on the Pecos. Roughly 12,700 people live here. For a town this size it carries a remarkable amount of industry, and the refinery on Main Street is the first thing you see coming in.

Miller, Then Stegman, Then Artesia

The place started in 1890 as a stagecoach stop called Miller on the run between Roswell and Carlsbad. When the Pecos Valley Southern Railway opened in 1894 it became a livestock shipping point named Stegman.

The name changed again in 1905, after an underground artesian water basin was found here and a local developer named John Richey proposed calling the place Artesia. It incorporated as a village that year and became a city in 1930.

Then 1923

Oil and gas fields were discovered around Artesia in 1923, and the refineries, extraction plants and petrochemical operations that followed are still the backbone of the local economy. Navajo Refining has run on East Main Street for generations and operates today under HF Sinclair.

Potash mining matters here too, and the irrigated farms around town still produce wool, cotton, alfalfa and feed. That mix is why Artesia did not shrink the way a lot of small towns out here did.

Two Things You Would Not Expect

The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center runs a campus on Gunpowder Road in Artesia, which brings federal trainees and instructors through town on a steady rotation all year.

And Abo Elementary, built here during the Cold War, is described as the first underground school in the United States, put below ground to shield students from fallout. It is an odd thing to have in a town of twelve thousand.

Long Term RV Parks Near Artesia, New Mexico

Owning the RV is one half of the plan. Having a spot to park it is the other half, so here are long term and monthly friendly parks in the Artesia area that were open and taking residents when this page was last reviewed. Rates, availability and age restrictions change constantly, so call ahead and confirm monthly pricing, hookups, rig length limits and whether they allow the year the unit was built.

  • Artesia RV Park and Storage201 W Hermosa Dr, Artesia, NM · (575) 746-6184. In town with full hookup sites and the longest review history in the area. Call about staying by the month.
  • Shady Acres RV Park3208 W Main St, Artesia, NM · (575) 637-0915. West side of town, straightforward, used to people staying a while.
  • R and P RV Park and Laundry7348 Roswell Hwy, Artesia, NM · (575) 365-2441. North of town on the highway with laundry on site. Call for current monthly availability.

Parks set their own limits on length, age and hookups, so call the one you have in mind and ask what they allow before you settle on a floorplan. Walking in knowing your max length narrows the lot down fast.

Financing Built for Hardworking Families

Most dealerships send your application to an outside bank and wait. We do not. RV Depot finances in house, which means we look at your whole situation instead of one number on a report. Steady income, a workable down payment and a plan you can live with carry real weight here. If you have been denied somewhere else, that denial does not follow you through our door.

  • In house financing with all credit situations welcome, including first time buyers with no credit history
  • Approval decisions made by our own team, not an out of state lender
  • Flexible down payment options, and we will tell you honestly what yours needs to be
  • Fast answers, usually the same day you apply
  • Payment structures built around a real budget instead of a best case scenario
  • A path forward for buyers coming off a repossession, a bankruptcy or a rough couple of years

You can start your application online before you drive over, which saves you time once you are here. Paperwork is finished in person at the dealership, so plan on spending at least one day on the lot. That same day you get a personal walkthrough of your RV with a technician who shows you everything working before you head home.

400+ Quality Used RVs Under One Roof

Twenty acres, more than 400 units, and one of the largest pre owned RV inventories in Texas. That size is the whole point. You are not looking at three trailers and hoping one fits. You can stand in a dozen floorplans in an hour, compare a bunkhouse against a rear living layout, see what a fifth wheel feels like next to a travel trailer, and figure out what actually suits your family before you sign anything.

Travel TrailersEasy to tow with a half ton truck and the most affordable way into RV ownership. Great first unit.
Fifth WheelsThe most living space of anything we carry, with a raised bedroom and residential feel. Our top pick for full time living.
Bunkhouse FloorplansSeparate sleeping space for the kids. If you are moving a family into an RV, start here.
Toy HaulersA garage that doubles as a workshop, gear storage or an extra room. Popular with trades and anyone hauling equipment.

Once a unit is yours it goes through our shop before your pickup day, where the mechanical side gets checked over so the things that are not cosmetic are working. We would rather sell you the right unit once than the wrong unit today, especially when you are buying a place to live rather than a weekend toy.

Browse our current inventory or call and tell us your budget, your tow vehicle and how many people need to sleep in it. We will narrow 400 units down to the handful worth your drive from Artesia.

Frequently Asked Questions

Get straightforward answers about visiting RV Depot from Artesia, applying for financing, comparing housing costs, and choosing an RV that fits your family.

Does RV Depot have a dealership in Artesia?

No. We have one location, 4319 N. Main St. in Cleburne, Texas, and we serve Artesia buyers from there. Everything sits on one 20 acre lot, which is the whole reason the drive is worth making once instead of shopping three small lots near home.

Why would I drive from Artesia to RV Depot?

Two reasons. Selection, because we keep more than 400 used RVs and travel trailers in one place, and financing, because we finance in house and make the decision ourselves. If an outside lender has already turned you down, that second reason is usually the one that matters.

Can I apply before coming from Artesia?

Yes, and you should. Start the application online and we can tell you roughly where you stand before you spend a day driving. Paperwork is finished in person at the dealership, so plan on wrapping up at the lot the day you choose your unit.

Can RV Depot help if my credit is not strong?

That is most of who we work with. Because we finance in house, we look at your income, your down payment and your whole situation rather than one number on a report. Past credit trouble does not end the conversation here.

How much down payment will I need?

It depends on the unit and on your situation, so there is no single number we can post honestly. Call us with your budget and the kind of unit you are after and we will tell you what yours looks like before you make the drive.

What income does RV Depot consider?

Steady income you can document is what matters most. Bring paperwork for all of your household income and we will tell you what counts toward your application. If you are not sure whether something qualifies, ask us on the phone rather than guessing.

Can my family live comfortably in an RV?

Plenty of families do it, and the floorplan is what decides whether it works. Bunkhouse models give the kids their own sleeping space, and fifth wheels give you the most living area of anything we carry. Tell us how many people need to sleep in it and we will point you at the layouts that actually hold up day to day.

Should I improve my credit before applying?

You do not have to wait on us to find out. Because the financing is ours, you can apply now, hear exactly where you stand, and then decide for yourself whether waiting buys you anything. Plenty of people are further along than they assume.

What documents should I bring?

Proof of income, a valid photo ID, and a realistic idea of your down payment and the monthly number you can carry. That is enough to get a real answer the same day.

Can I see current RV prices before visiting?

Yes. Our inventory is online with prices on the units, so you can pick out what you want from Artesia without driving anywhere first. You can go through the process from home, and a deposit will hold the unit so it is yours while you set up the trip down. If you would rather shop in person, call and tell us your budget, your tow vehicle and how many people need to sleep in it, and we will have a list ready to walk.

Living in Jal: Permian Basin Border Town

Jal’s position in southeastern Lea County places you at a crossroads of Permian Basin oil production, straddling the Texas-New Mexico border. This unique location provides access to oilfields across both states, expanding employment opportunities and contract work options. For oil field workers, this border position means flexibility to work projects in either state without relocating your home base.

The town’s proximity to larger Permian Basin cities—Hobbs, NM to the north and Midland-Odessa, TX to the south—balances access to urban amenities with Jal’s lower cost of living. You can reach comprehensive services, major medical facilities, and shopping centers within reasonable driving distance while maintaining affordable housing in a community that understands oil industry life.

For energy sector professionals, RV living in Jal offers critical advantages in this remote location: housing that moves with contract changes, affordability that maximizes income during boom cycles, and flexibility when oil prices fluctuate. In a region where economic conditions can shift with global energy markets, your housing remains an asset rather than a liability.

Essential Services for Working Professionals

Jal provides the essential services oil field workers need, with local businesses accustomed to the demanding schedules and long work periods common in the industry. The small-town layout means quick access to necessities—fuel, groceries, basic supplies—without wasting precious off-duty time navigating sprawling suburbs.

Local medical services handle routine healthcare needs, with more comprehensive facilities available in nearby Hobbs for specialized care. This arrangement works well for healthy professionals who need occasional medical attention without requiring daily access to major medical centers.

The town’s infrastructure supports the oil industry workforce with services timed to accommodate shift work and irregular schedules. Gas stations, convenience stores, and essential businesses understand that oil field workers operate on industry time, not traditional 9-to-5 schedules.

Quality RV Parks Serving Jal

RV facilities in and around Jal cater specifically to oil field workers and long-term residents. These parks understand the needs of energy industry professionals and provide practical amenities at fair prices.

Jal Lake Park offers RV camping with water and electric hookups in a peaceful lakeside setting. While primarily known for recreational camping, the park welcomes extended stays for oil field workers establishing a home base in the area. The lakeside location provides natural beauty and fishing opportunities for downtime between work rotations. Monthly rates and the community atmosphere make it suitable for workers planning longer-term stays in the Jal area.

Several private property owners in Jal offer RV spaces with basic hookups, catering specifically to oil industry workers. These informal arrangements often provide the best value for long-term stays, with flexible terms that accommodate the unpredictable nature of oil field contracts. The locally-arranged spaces connect you directly with property owners who understand industry work patterns and can accommodate irregular payment schedules during busy drilling periods.

RV parks in nearby Hobbs (approximately 25 miles north) provide additional options with more developed amenities. Several parks cater specifically to the oil field workforce with monthly rates, reliable hookups, and management familiar with industry schedules. The slightly longer commute to some Jal-area job sites is offset by access to Hobbs’s larger service infrastructure and shopping options.
